525,600 minutes…
So… It’s finally 2022… If you’re a computer software engineer (programmer), you’re used to doing “time math,” things like seconds in a minute are learned at a young age (60 for those that need a reminder, just kidding); but, programmers are interested in some other numbers, like:
• Seconds in an hour: 3,600
• Seconds in a day: 86,400 (more common than you’d think!)
• Weeks in a month: 4.33 (go figure, who thought it was just 4?)
Well, another number made famous by RENT, a rock musical, first presented as a workshop at New York Theatre Workshop in 1993. Interestingly, the show was “loosely based” on Giacomo Puccini’s 1896 opera, La Bohème. The show finally opened on Broadway at the end of April in 1996, closing in early September 2008, making it one of the longest-running shows at the time.
So… Here we are, finally 2022… One of the songs from RENT was Seasons of Love, recounting the fact that there are 525,600 minutes in a year. Asking:
The question… How do you measure a year? Daylights, sunsets, midnights, cups of coffee, inches, miles, laughter, or strife?
Perhaps, “How about love?”
We all have 525,600 minutes this year, the past few years have been way too challenging, frustrating, distancing, isolating…
